Upper Peninsula Family Solutions is accepting applications for the following positions:
Foster Care Caseworker
LOCATION: Office located in Negaunee Township, but travel to other locations in the Upper Peninsula is required.
JOB STATUS: Full-time / 40+ hours per week
SALARY & BENEFITS: $20.00 per hour / insurance benefits at no cost to the employee / PTO / 401k with generous agency match
RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS:
- Provide casework services to children placed in foster care due to abuse and neglect and work a reunification plan with parents
- Assess families and individuals to identify strengths and needs within the family unit
- Strong report writing skills
- Deal effectively with confrontation
- Communicate with and act as a liaison between MDHHS, attorneys, counselors, schools, parents, foster parents, and youth
- Travel throughout the Upper Peninsula for purposes of case management (court hearings, parenting time, home visits in the foster home or parental home)
- Maintain confidentiality
- Accept feedback, be open to learning, and have the ability to work well within a team
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, or human services
- Candidate must attend and complete 9-week Child Welfare Institute Training prior to assuming full caseload responsibilities
- Pass a background check and child protective services history check
- Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Be willing to work evenings and weekends and be willing to travel throughout the U.P.

Visitation Supervisor/Case Aide
LOCATION: Office located in Negaunee Township, but visitation occurs at various locations throughout the Upper Peninsula.
JOB STATUS: Part-time / 20-25 hours per week / must be available evenings & weekends
SALARY: $17.00 per hour
RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS:
- Provide transportation using agency vehicle and supervise court ordered parenting time between children and their families
- Document observations of visitation and provide written reports to foster care workers
- Coordinate and schedule parenting time according to court orders and the needs expressed by the case worker
- Communicate effectively with foster parents, biological parents, and caseworkers
- Provide testimony during court proceedings if/when necessary
- Assist with general office responsibilities and provide support to foster care workers as needed with properly maintaining case files, including scanning, filing, etc.
- Maintain confidentiality
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Pass a background check
- Be willing to work evenings and weekends and be willing to travel throughout the U.P.
- A bachelor’s degree in human services is preferred, but not required. Current students enrolled in a human services degree program are encouraged to apply.
- This position has the potential for promotion to Foster Care Case Worker for the motivated and qualified person
